NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - If you live or work along the Hudson River, you got a treat this morning.
Four blimps ? MetLife, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Hood, and DirecTV ? flew from the Statue of Liberty up to the George Washington Bridge.
On their way, they performed some synchronized maneuvers.
Thomas Vincz of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey said that this is one of those rare occasions when the opportunity arose to have the four blimps together on one ?atmospherically?convenient day.?
It?s also worth noting that, right now, according to Vincz, 40 percent of the nations blimps are in the New York City area.
Last year, they did the parade as more of a race during the July 4th weekend. The Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield blimp won that race.
All four blimps are owned by the Van Wagner Airship Group and originated from Solberg Airport in Readington, New Jersey.
